I watched this movie "To kill a mocking bird" this week. This movie should rank in the top 5 movies I ever watched in my life. Gregory Peck, the lead actor was awarded, the greatest american hero ever for his performance in this movie and rightly so. He fits in perfectly into the character Atticus Finch, a widowed father of 2 kids, Scout and Jem. Scout is 2 years old and Jeb is 6. Atticus personifies the citizen, the father, and the human being, every one should aspire to be in their lives. The movie is about how he stands up against the pressures of white dominated society during the great depression, to do his job as a lawyer in defending an innocent black man, Tom Robinson. In the process he teaches his kids the ugly realities of this world and the values of compassion and courage. I haven't seen a more powerful cinematic moment than the one in this movie, when the reverend of the town asks Jean Louise Finch (Scout) to stand up like all others did after the court session, with an expression of admiration in his face and saying " Your father is passing." This movie is based on a novel with the same name by Harper Lee, and I suggest that this novel should be included in the course work in high school.Great work it is, Mr Peck and Lee.
